Dick Francis based his book 'Come to Grief' on part of our lives, so you will understand when I say that to find a huge part of my daughter Natasha’s life/our lives fictionalized in ‘Come to grief’ was so horrendously painful and such a shock to me that I am still traumatize from it to this day!
Natasha was/is not a fictional character and never will be! Everyone should know this!
We lost Natasha to cancer and Dick Francis knew this, as well as knowing the fact that I was writing my autobiography as one of her last wishes, before basing his novel on us. The thought of anyone reading about my Natasha’s life/our lives as a family together is horrendous to me. I consider it to be our human right for people to know the truth, to know that we are real people and not fictional characters, especially Natasha!
This is the main reason I am doing this petition is because, I promised Natasha that as many people as possible would read about her within the pages of my autobiography ‘Bad Blood’ and after what Dick Francis did I have been unable to get a proper PR coverage for my autobiography. His supposed fiction novel ‘Come to grief’ was so closed to part of our real lives that the publisher who was considering my autobiography sent it back to me when his novel came out.
I appear to have a problem getting book reviews out in the newspapers or magazines. So I have to find a way to let people know my autobiography is out there and the only way I can think of right now is to do a petition to prove to the media that it is of interest to the people who buy their papers/magazines, media in general.
Now I suspect that one of the reasons I am having problems with this is because as one PR Guru said on morning time TV ‘PR companies can prevent news from being reported on as well as get information into the news’. In other words if you can afford thousands to pay a PR company, then you can get huge media exposure or prevent others from exposing what you get up to that you don’t want the public to no!
I am not trying to sell you my autobiography, I just need help to get justice for Natasha, she isn’t here to defend herself, so please do sign my petition.

Hi Linda - Thank you for sending the book. I feel quite touched by your trust and have started to read. Wow! I find it totally fascinating and you certainly are blessed with that wonderful gift good author's have for leading their readers through the story so that it is so hard to put the book down!!! I have a busy morning ahead but just want to sit here and read and read. Brilliant.
A book review would be good. You've had to deal with such major traumas in your life and there are so many people who need comfort and encouragement with bereavement and child abuse. Your sharing Linda will help a lot of people. Same with child abuse too
As I said I haven't got very far into the book but my tongue is hanging out to learn more about the political scene on Jersey. I have to say that it is the first time in my life I've read anything so honest about the island and yet it's like the 'penny drops' when you reveal the corruption and class divisions there. In such a small community I suppose it emphasizes even more the wide gap between the haves and the have not’s in our society. You go girl and just keep telling it like it is. I've done the same and certainly have learned how NOT to make friends but certainly know you can influence people and once something has been revealed there's no ignoring it.
So Linda, I'll continue to read and I think it is really important to raise awareness of plagiarism in all its forms. Trust is so important especially for writers because we don't expect others to lift what we share to line their own pockets.

I wrote this piece on the 21.11.90, having lost our daughter Natasha to cancer on the 27.7/90. Natasha never made it to her first teenage birthday, my heart will never recover from losing her, every year I write something on her birthday, and will do so until we are together again, whenever, wherever that might be.
